Wake Up, Humans!
All I feel every time I think about what the world would be like centuries later, is a headache and nothing but a headache. I doubt Earth would even exist by then. Judging from how humans treat their so called ‘home’, I think it would not even exist in a century anymore. One of my hobbies is to observe human behavior and according to my observation, most of us are too busy to care about anything else but ourselves. We don’t even bother thinking the future the next generations will have because of our recklessness and ignorance on what is truly happening in this planet. And that will be the biggest regret each and every one of us will carry on doomsday.
I, Marvie, a mere student, would start to do my part by creating this essay. In my community, I only see a few citizens who are sincerely concerned about our environment, and they are the ones who was extremely ridiculed by this sick society of ours. These people who were mocked because of having a job like janitor and trash collectors, are the ones who actually care about doing a part in saving nature. You might say that they’re doing it for money, maybe some does. However, some does it for both money and their care for our environment. I extremely hope that people like them would inspire everyone, especially the ones who has the power to make a huge change to our planet’s current situation.
It is true that we need the ones who has the wealth and influence to encourage numerous individuals to start making a change, however, that does not mean that us, mere citizens, cannot do anything to help saving our planet. Just like what they say, multiple tiny steps can eventually create a huge one. We just need unity, and cooperation. Here are the simple things that I have done that I know contributed in preserving and rescuing our dying planet. First, I simply practiced proper waste segregation. One must have discipline in order to avoid recklessly throwing trash everywhere. Second, I occasionally sweep and clean my surroundings. Third, I have joined programs and projects whose main goal is to save Earth. And fourth, I have been educating my fellow teenagers about our planet’s current situation, and what we can do to help. I have spread awareness among my peers to encourage them to start caring more about our home. I know my help was not that much, however, I’m still a teenager and who knows what I can do once I can finally start making money and building influences among people.
The sole goal of being environmentally active in this age is to practice caring for our nature while we are still young. By doing these kind of things as we grow up, little by little, our contribution to our planet’s healing is prospering as well. By the time we finally reach the age wherein we have the money and power to make bigger steps, we can help our environment more. Due to the practices we had as a child, our love for nature grew in our hearts thus it will surely be one of the driving forces we’ll have once we reach that certain age. But for the meantime, let us focus on doing what we can do, no matter how small it is.
In conclusion, all of us, well realistically most of us, should start finding the beauty within the land we all were born in. Ever since the day we spawned here on this planet, we had been taking nature’s gifts for granted. We haven’t had the taste of the life we will all have once it gets totally destroyed yet, that explains why so many of us could not care less. However, once we do, it might be too late to take it all back. Before the world meet its end, we should at least try our best. Humanity should wake up, because that is the only way we can change our terrible fates.
